Solar

The NWU Solar Car Team and our futuristic mobile, the Sirius X25 has made history by becoming the first African team to ever cross the finish line of the World Solar Challenge

We completed the 3000km gruelling journey through the outback of Australia in 47hr22min, with an average speed of 71.7 km/h. This was our first World Solar Challenge, and we competed with 46 cars from 25 Countries and finished the race in 11th position.

We made our solar car debut as the "Batmobile"  in the 2012 Sasol Solar Challenge, and once the Sirius X25 completes its journey back to South African soil, preparations for the 2016 Sasol Solar Challenge will start!
