Research ethics training of researchers (Principal investigators, supervisors/promoters, co-supervisors/co-promotors, Master’s and PhD students and other research team members) has become a requirement of the Department of Health and the National Health Research Ethics Council (NHREC) and proof of formal research ethics training received during the past three years must accompany all research ethics applications

Should you make use of the free online research ethics training course, the following modules are compulsory to complete:

  • Module 2.1 Research ethics evaluation
  • Module 3.1 Informed consent
  • National supplement for South Africa

Alternative to the TREEE training  (Module 1,  Module 2.1,  Module 3.1,  and the South African certificate ), Social Sciences Ethics Training can be used if your studies have human participants.
