The Faculty of Engineering will be hosting fun-filled engineering days during 2021. These events will take place on Saturdays. Learners in Grade 10 – 12 are welcome to apply to attend one or more of these days.
During these engineering days, prospective students will obtain information about the different disciplines of engineering offered at the North-West University, Potchefstroom campus.
The planned dates for the Saturdays are as follows (learners may only choose one option per Saturday):
19 June: Chemical & minerals engineering OR Mechanical engineering
26 June - Industrial engineering OR Mechatronic engineering
3 July - Mechatronic engineering OR Electrical & electronic engineering
10 July - Mechanical engineering OR Electromechanical engineering
17 July – Computer & electronic engineering OR Chemical & Minerals engineering
24 July – Electrical & electronic engineering OR Computer & electronic engineering
31 July - Electromechanical engineering OR Industrial engineering
The following aspects will be covered:
• What does the work of an engineer in this specific field entail?
• Where do engineers in this specific field work?
• Will I be able to work abroad with my NWU engineering degree?
• What does the curriculum entail?
• What marks do I need to get into the programme?
• How do I apply for this specific programme?
By mean of projects and presentations, learners will be assisted in making sound career choices.

The cost of attending a Saturdays day is R500. Should a learner wish to attend more than one day, the extra cost is only R400 per additional day.

Note that applicants should be taking mathematics (not maths literacy or technical mathematics) and physical science. Preference will be given to learners who are in grade 12 in 2021, and currently, meet the minimum requirements to study engineering at the NWU (70% for mathematics and physical science). Applications should be submitted by 10 May 2021. Successful candidates will be informed via email by 20 May 2021.
Please note that there are only 50 spaces available per discipline per day.
