Since 2014, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) in partnership with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) has been organising the SA-UNESCO Engineering, Science and Technology Conference (SA-UNESCO-EC).
This DST-led initiative is aimed at creating a platform for discussion on emerging engineering issues and proposing solutions to the challenge of the engineering skills deficit in the country. It is supported by the National Research Foundation (NRF) and ECSA and has strong participation of academics, mathematics and science teachers, learners, practising and candidate engineers and the industry.
*Attendance is free of charge for all invited school learners, all 50 abstract-approved Master’s and PhD students, all approved exhibitors and 250 delegates.
*The call for Master's and PhD abstracts is extended to 19 August 2019.
Specific objectives:
The SA-UNESCO-EC Engineering, Science and Technology Conference aims to bring together role players in various engineering fields to discuss opportunities and challenges and propose strategies that South Africa can adopt to develop engineering capacity in the country.
The conference will take place as follows:
Dates: 25 - 27 September 2019
Venue: North-West University, Mahikeng Campus
The conference is organised under the theme:
“Decolonising the 4th Industrial Revolution in Support of the Sustainable Developments Goals.”
